London based painter and children's books illustrator Usoa Mendikute was born in Bergara
(Basque Country) in 1976, where she spent her childhood and took her first steps in the field of arts, composing her first artworks, exhibiting with local artists, and working as a children's creative educator.

  Usoa Mendikute graduated in Fine Arts from the University of the Basque Country in 2001.

  She has had many Solo and Group Exhibitions both in Spain and the UK, and her work has been shown in well known gallery spaces such as Koldo Mitxelena (San Sebastian) or Galería Setba (Barcelona).

  She works in acrylic producing engaging compositions using plain bright colours that define her energetic and vibrant style.

  She takes inspiration from an array of every day items that aesthetically appeal to her, due to either their shape, their colour or the shadows they produce.
